Keeping family ties

This expression means that a believer should keep good relations with his blood relations.  To keep in contact with them, visit them, share their happiness and sorrows and to help them if they need help.

One of us might get become upset if one of their relatives behaves badly to them or was unjust to us.  This might lead a person to break any contact or relation with this blood relation and this is one of the great sins.  Allah the Highest said : WOULD YOU WHEN YOU TAKE CHARGE MAKE MISCHEIF ON EARTH AND BREAK UP YOUR FAMILY TIES”.  (S:47  A:22)

Allah the Highest followed making mischief on earth with breaking up the family ties to show the seriousness of such sin as breaking up family ties.

Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him told us that breaking up family ties is one of the greatest sins, which obstructs a Muslim from entering Paradise, he said: “Does not enter Paradise he who breaks up his family ties”.   (Bukhari)

Indeed, Allah the Highest promised to break up ties with those who break ties with blood relations.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said :  “When Allah finished creating the creation, the Womb said : ‘Here stands the one who asks for your protection from the relationships being severed with’.  He said :’yes, will you be happy if I contact whoever contacts you and sever relations with whoever severs relations with you?  The Womb said : ‘Yes Lord’, He said : ‘This is for you then’.  Then Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said : ‘ Recite this if you like WOULD YOU WHEN YOU TAKE CHARGE MAKE MISCHEIF ON EARTH AND BREAK UP YOUR FAMILY TIES”.

(Bukhari:Adab)

The Womb here is symbolic of what makes ties with blood relations as it is all happens through the womb.

Allah the Highest contact with us is to bestow His Mercy, Forgiveness, Guidance and Care upon us and to sever contact with us is to deprive us of all that.  How great it is to for Allah the highest to be always with us and in contact with us.

To make good contact with your blood relations and to be good to them is great in the Eyes of Allah the Highest.  This is particularly with those who are good with the blood relations who are not good to him or who contacts them even though they do not contact him.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said : “The person who contact and is good to his blood relations is not the one who rewards those who do so to him, he is the one who whenever his blood relations break up with him, he contacts and is good to them”.   (Bukhari:Adab)

Indeed, Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said : “The best charity is upon your blood relation who does not like you”.

It is clear that a Muslim should do his best to keep good relations and contact with his blood relations, even those who do not do so with him.

Why also?

Of the other outcomes of keeping good relations with our blood relations is that Allah the Highest increases his provisions to his slave, and blesses his children.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said : “He who would like to have his provisions increased and children blessed, let him be good and in contact with his blood relations”.   (Bukhari)

It is clear that the outcome in this life of being good to your blood relations increased provisions, blessed children and always enjoying the guidance, mercy and blessing of Allah the Highest, and in the Hereafter being granted the Paradise

Those who do sever relations with their blood relations are bad to them are denied entry to Paradise.

May Allah the Highest grant us entry to it, and make us of it’s residents for eternity.  Ameen.
