Know about others rights

Know about others rights

To deliver them

Injustice between people takes place due to the fact that some people do not fulfill their obligations to others.  They would have done them an injustice as others do not have their rights.

Today we find injustice to have become widespread and the courts are full of cases where some are trying to recover their due rights from other.  In Egypt at present the courts are looking at more that 30 million cases.  Why is that?

When the Muslims choose Abu Baker to be the Khalifah after Allah’s messenger’s death, Abu Baker appointed Omar Ibn El-Khatab to be the judge of Medina.  Omar presided on the court in Medina for a year, during which he did not have a single case.  He went to Abu Baker and told him that the Muslims in Medina do not need a judge, for they all know others rights upon them and they deliver them, therefore no one needed to go to court suing another to get their right dues from them.

So, what is the reason for all these court cases?  It can be one of two reasons, and there is not a third either:

1-    People’s ignorance of the rights of others upon them.  Or

2-    That they know but withhold or take other people’s dues out of lack of fear of Allah the Highest.

I believe that putting the first reason right is easier than putting the second right as it is easier to teach people that to make them fear Allah.

Every one has rights and obligations in any relationship between people.  The husband has rights and obligations and so does the wife in the context of marriage.  If each deliver to the other their rights, no one will suffer injustice.

The same applies in the relationship between a worker and his boss, or a buyer and seller, the citizen and the government etc.  It is the duty of every Muslim to give people their due rights before asking for his.  This will have to start by learning about other’s rights in any relationship or transaction.

Justice in all it’s aspects is one of the pillars of civilized societies.  However, better than people being just to each other is for people to be kind and charitable to each other.  That is to say that one will give others their due rights and more, and might not claim all their rights from them.  Allah the Highest said: AND DO NOT FORGET THE KINDNESS BETWEEN YOUSELVES FOR ALLAH KNOWS ALL YOU DO”.  (S:2 A:237)
